Sweet Sour Spareribs

3 pounds spareribs
3 tablespoons shoyu, (soy sauce)
6 tablespoons cornstarch
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon sherry
1/2 cup salad oil
2 slices ginger, crushed
2 cloves garlic, crushed
3/4 cup vinegar
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup water
1 cup pineapple chunks in juice, drained

Marinate spareribs in shoyu, cornstarch, salt and sherry for 10 minutes. Heat oil in saucepan. Add ginger and garlic and brown. Remove. Brown spareribs, drain off excess fat. Add vinegar, brown sugar and water. Simmer 30 minutes or until done. Add pineapple chunks and heat through.
